Hank, age 78, passed away suddenly at his home on Skidaway Island, Georgia. Born in Peoria, Illinois, Hank grew up in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and obtained degrees in Dentistry and Orthodontics from the University of Illinois. After serving in the Air Force in Germany, Hank and his wife Nancy settled in Joliet where he was a founding member of a successful orthodontic practice, Orthodontic Associates.
Hank retired to Skidaway Island in 1991. Hank led a life well-lived and enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening, furniture and basket making, a good joke and a good bottle of wine. He and Nancy traveled extensively, and particularly enjoyed exploring Italy and France. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and a true friend to many in both Joliet and Savannah.

Hank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy, and his sons Dave Anne of Newport Beach, California; Eric Tonya of Dallas, Texas; Mike Kara of Alpharetta, Georgia; and his seven grandchildren, Allyssa, Amanda, Avery, Hannah, Harrison, Emily and Owen. He is also survived by his sister, Ida Mae Johnson of Mendota Heights, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8 th, at 11:00 a.m. at Skidaway United Methodist Church in Savannah, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials on Hank's behalf should be sent "In Memory of Hank Peterson" to either Skidaway United Methodist Church, 54 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, Ga. 31411 or Hospice Savannah Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, Ga. 31416.
